TeamTalk v5.7.1 released

TeamTalk v5.7.1 is now available for download. Again there is a long list of changes which are summarized in the end of this article.

Users of the TeamTalk Classic Client for Accessibility are encouraged to try out the “default TeamTalk Client” which now comes with text-to-speech events and many other accessibility improvements.

The TeamTalk developers are trying to make the “default TeamTalk Client” as accessible as the Classic client. Therefore please give feedback on this post if there’s some accessibility needs that are missing in the “default TeamTalk Client” compared to the Classic Client.

  1. Hello, I’ve found a bug with the Mac client. Text-to-speech does not respect the speech rate setting. I can confirm that this works correctly on Windows with SAPI. Not sure on Linux.

  2. I have just updated TeamTalk to version 5.7.1 and I am getting no indecation if a channel is expanded or collapsed when going through the tree view on the default QT client, using Windows 10 with the JAWS® for Windows screen reading software. I am also noticing that the status of checkboxes for TTS events aren’t being read. I think the classic and default clients should have been merged as one without the need of making 2 different clients with different accessibility levels, this would have brought the programming language of both versions into one single program and the classic code could have been instantly imported.

    • Hi and thank pfor your feedback,
for text to speech checkboxes, your screenreader should says “enable” or “disable”, it’s working with NVDA, unfortunately I don’t thinked to test with JAWS, I’ll install a JAWS to test with this.
For channels in tree, we’ll see if you can return state “expand” or “colaps”.

  3. Hey there. Unfortunately the latest team talk version cannot be downloaded for android from the play store, instead, version 5.6.1 is being downloaded and it seems that the latest version is available for beta users. I’m not comfortable with beta versions, on the other hand, nothing happens even after an hour when attempting to join the beta program, and the apk file isn’t available to download. May I know when the latest version will be finalised for non-beta users?
