VPN blocker for TeamTalk Pro Servers

The two official TeamTalk servers have been attacked a lot lately by spammers. The spammers have attacked using VPNs which meant they could change their IP-addresses continuously making it hard to block them.

The TeamTalk SpamBot for TeamTalk Pro Server have now been updated so it can block all known VPNs. If you want your TeamTalk Pro Server to block all known VPNs then assign the user-right “User can ban users from server” to username spambot@bearware.dk.

Note that once you enable VPN blocking then your server’s banlist will increase with 3000 entries.

    • Hi,
I would also like to know this as well. Also, when I connected to the official US server, it did not block VPN, I tested with Express VPN, Betternet, and Proton. None of these were blocked. So I’m not sure how it works. Does it block VPN when it connects to the server, because I think it should look up weather someone is using VPN or not and then block, rather than just adding 3000 entries to your server. IP addresses, especially for VPN providers like cyber Ghost, change their IP addresses all the time, so this would be more effective.

    • Hi,
Ah, clear. I understand. It looks like people already found ways around it, as the US server is still being spammed even at the time of this writing. I think it is not going to work very well since it’s not blocking express VPN or the others.

      • Hi,
I see another potential flaw in this bot. First, if it adds 3000 band entries, this makes it very dificult for someone to go and unban users or modify bans they created I think. Second, if the list is updated daly, you have to wait for a long time before it bans someone who is spamming. I would recommend making it so that it looks up everyone that connect with VPn and instantly bans them and that VPN.
